Peter Paul Zammit kept the salary but not the responsibility

You always have to look for the catch with these tricky, money-grubbing people. It did seem rather too much of a good thing that Peter Paul Zammit stepped down as Commissioner of Police this time last year, apparently of his own accord, even if he did walk in to another post with the CHOGM organisation committee, which has since metamorphosed into a permanent appointment as ‘Head of Security for International Events’ (something pointless which the government never had before, because the head of the police and the head of the army handled it between them).

Now The Malta Independent reports that he kept the exact same salary he had as Commissioner of Police, even though the job is nowhere near as onerous and does not exist under the Constitution or the laws of Malta.
