You should read this shocking resignation letter
Vincent Mifsud’s resignation letter – he was CEO of Malta Investment Management Co Ltd, which manages government holdings – was made public this evening when a copy was presented to the Public Accounts Committee in parliament.
Mr Mifsud had also copied it to the Auditor-General, who said that he does not think it is within his remit to investigate. This even though the former CEO says that the reason for his resignation was his being kept in the dark about things going on in the very organisation of which he was chief executive officer – which can only mean that they wanted to keep him out of it because those things are not acceptable or proper.
It turns out that he handed in his resignation the day the news broke about Karl Cutajar, 18 and an employee of the company, being appointed director of a government security company with one share in his name.
Mr Mifsud wrote that it was a difficult decision to take – he was paid well and is now presumably unemployed – but he could no longer take responsibility for things that were done without even his knowledge let alone his consent.
