Get rid of him immediately

The Police Minister (who is also responsible for the prisons) has told Times of Malta that former acting Police Commissioner Ray Zammit’s days as ACTING Prisons Director are numbered.

He’s being allowed to stay on until a replacement is found, he said.

What rubbish. The prisons can survive for a few weeks with another acting director until a permanent appointment is made. Meanwhile, that corrupt crook should be consigned to the public service’s dustbin.

It is bad enough that he will take his service pension with him when he leaves.

Zammit also has a chauffeur-driven car. The chauffeur is a policeman of his choice, on secondment from the force. He has also kept his salary despite being removed from the force. Instead, they have created a fictitious job for him – something nonexistent, to do with wardens.

The Police Minister says that no action will be taken about his behaviour until there is a full inquiry. It looks as though he is going to have to fight Owen Bonnici to the death to get rid of him – that is, if he even wants to.
