I have received this explanation about the double number-plate

The owner of number-plate ABU 317 has posted a comment saying that the plate was stolen from his car in Rabat.

And I have just received an email from the owner of the car – ABP595 – shown in the photograph, saying that he had no idea that somebody had stuck the other plate there, that he was driving along completely oblivious to it, not having seen it because it was only at the rear.

He told me that he only found out about it this morning when a friend rang him after having seen a photograph of the car on this website. When he leaves work today, he will file a report at the police station in Rabat.

The owner of the car also explained that the damage to his rear lights was caused by a government-owned car which drove into his, and he has only just received the cheque – after six months – to effect the repairs (note – government cars are not insured).
