Identity Malta executive chairman sits on Crystal Finance board

How can this be allowed? The chief executive officer (in this case, that is the executive chairman) of a state corporation or agency should not sit on the board of privately-owned companies.

The situation is worse because Joe Vella Bonnici, when he was Identity Malta CEO already, took up that position on the Crystal Finance board to replace his friend Alfred Mifsud, one of the original shareholders of the company, who resigned in anticipation of being appointed deputy governor of the Central Bank of Malta.

You will note that John Dalli’s now-notorious daughter – the Malta contact for all those Americans who were scammed out of their life savings – sits on the board too.

That is a surefire indicator that her father has an interest there.
