Six Italians, who have been held in Malta’s prison since they were arrested on Wednesday last week under a European arrest warrant issued at Italy’s request, were extradited to Italy yesterday.
They were driven by the Maltese police to Malta International Airport, where they were put on board an Italian military plane (Aeronautica Militare) and flown under Interpol escort to Reggio Calabria’s airport, where they were handed over to the Carabinieri e and the Finanzieri dei Comandi Provinciali di Reggio Calabria, who had a warrant for their arrest.
They were immediately taken into custody.
