This is what a real democracy looks like

Meanwhile, back home on the ranch in Malta, the government refuses to say how much it cost the taxpayer to send the prime minister’s wife, his two children, her personal assistant and parliamentary secretaries Justyne ‘Chopper Squad’ Caruana and Chris Agius to Los Angeles as spectators at the Special Olympics.

And the press lets the government get away with it.

“Le, ta hi, dik hajja personali.”

“Eh miskina she deserves it.”

I get the feeling that in Malta people don’t actually know or understand how people in power, and their spouses and children, should behave, and what they are and are not entitled to do.

They take it for granted that sucking at the public teat is one of the legitimate perks of being in power – sort of like a medieval feudal system.
