Are we surprised? They see journalists as the enemy.
Joe Mizzi is another socially inept, uneducated, undemocratic turnip promoted way beyond his abilities.
I listened to the report of this reprehensible incident on the radio news this afternoon and my immediate view was that I would never have reacted like the journalist from Net News.
Instead of asking permission to ask a question, as he did, I would have simply asked the question and continued to repeat it, so at least those listening would have had the point of the question driven home.
You don’t need permission to ask a question. You just ruddy ask it.
And the only possible response to Joe Mizzi’s daft and insulting demand that the journalist send his questions in writing came to me there and then while listening to the news item. I would have said: “I would, Mr Mizzi, were it not for my serious concerns about your ability to read.”
And I would have loved saying it (“Kemm hi antipatika”) – though I’ll admit that a journalist working for a political party has different considerations, and making Mizzi look even more of an undemocratic bully pitting himself against a vulnerable person with a mike is more politically astute then actually putting him firmly in his place.
Joe Mizzi is a stupid and ignorant person in power. Putting a stupid and ignorant person in the cabinet of government is a grave insult to the electorate – especially to those parts of the electorate who are also stupid and ignorant, because it is taking unfair advantage of their inability to see what is being done to them.
Journalists should not seek answers from the Transport Minister. They should seek to remind (and inform) the public at all times that he is a stupid and ignorant person in power and, as such, a danger to the country.
