Europe’s Ministers of the Interior (how is Carmelo Abela bearing up?) are meeting today in Brussels to talk about the emergency relocation of 120,000 refugees from the civil war in Syria.

Europe’s prime minister’s will meet tomorrow to talk about the same subject.

Meanwhile, Romania’s prime minister, Victor Ponta, has accused Hungary of being un-European. “Hungary’s attitude is not European and is a disgrace for Europe,” he said. “To build fences between two European Union members, Hungary and Romania, is an unheard-of thing and has nothing to do with the European spirit.”

A spokesman for the Greek Foreign Ministry joined in. Constantinos Koutras said of Hungary: “The use of violence, the patrols with automatic weapons and the inciting of innocent war victims into Balkan minefields do not constitute behaviour appropriate for a member-state of the European Union.”
