I am traumatised

Spelled as they pronounce it – exception – but somewhere in the remote recesses of their brain, they knew that ‘exhibition’ has a B in there somewhere.

And this is the Malta Arts Council.

It is not just the fact that somebody working at or for the Arts Council – of all places – doesn’t know how to spell ‘exhibition’ and appears never to have seen the word in print that is so upsetting and offensive.

It is that they couldn’t be bothered to look it up – because how do you Google the correct spelling if you’re starting out with ‘excebtion’? You’ll only get ‘exception’.

And what is more upsetting still is that NOBODY at the Arts Council bothered to check that organisation’s website before it went live, and nobody has bothered to examine it since.

I’m being generous here in assuming that the Arts Council’s big cheeses know how to spell ‘exhibition’ if part of their business is putting them on.
