Should we be surprised?

European Commissioner Karmenu Vella’s head of secretariat, Patrick Costello, resigned last month, we have just discovered through a report in The Malta Independent.

He lasted less than 10 months with Il-Guy. His previous post was that of deputy head of cabinet with Margot Wallstrom, vice-president of the European Commission.

The transition to working for somebody as inept and out of it as Il-Guy must have been totally traumatic.
