Joe Cilia – a notary with a history of corruption, abuse and sexual harassment when he formed part of Prime Minister Alfred Sant’s government in 1996 – 1998 (Sant did not make him a shadow minister following the 1998 defeat) – has been put on the state payroll as “advisor to the Housing Authority”.

He is paid €23,600 a year under direct order from Minister Michael Farrugia, who is responsible for the Housing Authority.

The information was given in parliament in response to a question put by Opposition MP Kristy Debono.

After long years in the political freezer under Alfred Sant’s post-1998 Labour Party leadership, Joe Cilia was brought back on board by Joseph Muscat, along with many other disgraced, corrupt and abusive historic fossils of the Labour Party. He was asked to stand for election but failed, and was put on the state payroll, paid out of public funds, as compensation.
