Here’s an update on the abusive freeloading. If you haven’t yet read my post on how the prime minister and Mrs Muscat have abusively put her parents into government-paid care at the private care home Villa Messina, read that first.

Daily rates for one person at Villa Messina vary between €45 and €60, depending on how much care is required.

I’m told that Mrs Muscat’s parents were in the €54 a day category. This is €108 a day for both of them. So we are looking at €3,240 a month and €39,420 (€105 x 365 days) for a year for the two of them.

Mrs Muscat’s mother died a few weeks ago, shortly before she left for her jaunt to the UN General Assembly in New York with her husband, the children, Keith Schembri, Phyllis Muscat and Luciano Busuttil. But her father is still at Villa Messina, which means the government is now paying around €1,620 a month – €19,710 a year – to keep him there.
