Millionaire poverty consultant update: the sale of L-Gharix
L-Gharix, Dom Mintoff’s ‘home away from home’ in Delimara, has been sold by his daughters – millionaire poverty consultant Joan Bland aka Yana Mintoff Bland and Anne McKenna – for €250,000.
This is between a third and a quarter of the court-mandated €838,000 which Mintoff received in 2004 as compensation for having his view spoiled by the power station.
Please understand the €838,000 was compensation for the view, and not for a requisitioned house. He kept the house – and his daughters are now fighting a case for even more compensation, because almost a million euros was not enough for their view, in the European Court of Human Rights. So…the view was worth between three and four times as much as the house, was it? Aren’t there moments when you feel you’re living in Bananaland?
