Reply from the Chamber of Pharmacists

Mary Ann Sant Fournier of the Chamber of Pharmacists has sent in this response to an earlier post in which I asked why the Chamber had received funding from the Community Chest Fund when it is not a charity.

Dear Daphne,

To clarify, please note that the Malta Chamber of Pharmacists is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organisation, a professional association with trade union registration.

The Chamber applied for the funding of its society-oriented project entitled, “Targeting Obesity as a National Disability through a Community Pharmacist Driven Approach”, according to the criteria laid down in the application. It has signed a contract with the Fond Ghall-Ghaqdiet Volontarji by which it will be under scrutinity as the project progresses.

The Chamber’s audited accounts are open to the srutinity of its members and of the Registrar of Trade Unions. The accounts referring to the project will be open to the scrutinity of the Fond Ghall-Ghaqdiet Volontarji.
