The best of luck to these brave people

I wish them the best of luck in their new life in Sweden. They are less likely to encounter racism and prejudice there than they are in Italy. Their geographical journey is over and perhaps they will find peace and stability at last.

But whatever stands in the way of that, those who have the courage and stamina to make the epic journey which they have made also have the courage and stamina to overcome any obstacles they may encounter.

The way Italy’s Minister of the Interior, Angelino Alfano, has spoken of them as a burden that has been got rid of and dumped on somebody else (“Today is a day of victory”) is disgusting.
