The latest report from The Stable: Economy Minister moves out of Silvan Fenech’s Portomaso flat

Will somebody out there please inform the readers of this website whether or not the Bank of Valletta routinely uses the United States numerical date system when processing cheques for payment?

That is, today’s date would be 10/18/15 instead of 18/10/15.

The Minister for the Economy has given The Malta Independent two scans: one purportedly of a cheque he has written out to Silvan Fenech, and another which purportedly shows the back of the cheque, with the processing details as marked by the Bank of Valletta, but with the details blacked out of the HSBC account into which it was paid.

In terms of the very odd and hastily-cobbled-together lease agreement which Cardona presented in parliament after this website broke the story of his cosy arrangement with his mate Silvan Fenech, the tenant (Cardona) was obliged to pay the full 10 months’ rent five days before the expiry of the lease earlier this month (October).

The cheque, however, is dated 28 August but is nonetheless for the full amount for 10 months: €14,400.
