A reader has pointed out the following, which, as a woman who was routinely subjected to threats of sexual violence by Labour diehards who learned how to use the internet, I shouldn’t have missed. But I did. Joe Debono Grech’s words actually implied rape with extreme violence, and not GBH.

In the rough language of the street, the expression Debono Grech used (“Nifqak”) has sexual implications. It actually means “I’ll split you open with my penis.”

When a man says that to another man, it means GBH, but when a man says that to a woman, it is a threat of extremely violent rape.
