So much for the Commonwealth

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat met Prime Minister David Cameron on Armistice Day (yesterday, 11th November, for the benefit of the large army of ignorant Maltese who almost certainly include Muscat and his advisers) and only one of them wore a poppy.

So much for all the fuss about the Commonwealth. Those people want to have their cake and eat it. They want the kudos of hosting a big Commonwealth meeting, something which is only possible because Malta is part of the Commonwealth. But then they adopt the Mintoffian attitude – shared by many in the Nationalist Party, it has to be said – that World Wars I and II were foreigners’ wars and poppies are British colonialism and a symbol of the hakma.
