Corrupt accountant and former Labour Party treasurer Joe Sammut, whose chief clients included the sons of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, and who is currently facing trial for fraudulently obtaining Maltese residence permits for Libyan citizens, has applied to the National Commission for Higher Education for accreditation for a university he plans to set up.
This outfit is to be called the Transcontinental University of Malta. Officials at the Commission are deeply concerned about it, but it is the board – chaired by Martin Scicluna – which decides on accreditation.
