John Dalli’s architect paid €60,000 a year in consultancy fees on retainer to Transport Ministry
Chris Cachia, John Dalli’s private architect, was put on retainer to the Transport Ministry (Joe Mizzi) immediately the Labour Party got into government in early 2013, on a yearly renewable contract at €60,000 a year.
This is not a full-time job, but just a consultancy, leaving Cachia free to attend to his private professional practice as an architect.
The information was first published in this edition of the Government Gazette.
The other man is the deputy leader of the Labour Party, who has also been put on retainer to the Transport Minister while being left free to argue cases in court all morning and attend to his private professional practice in the afternoon. And don’t feel any surprise because his retainer is less than half that of Chris Cachia. Toni Abela has other retainers with government ministries that bring his annual total far higher than Cachia’s.
