Phyllis Muscat is on government salary Scale 1

The Malta Independent has discovered through a request submitted under the Freedom of Information Act that 50 people were put on the state payroll in “positions of trust” – that means, with no competitive interview process or call for applications – at the Office of the Prime Minister’s so-called International Conferences 2015 Unit

Their purpose was to organise the logistics for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and the EU-Africa Summit on Migration, both held last month.

Phyllis Muscat – she who gives a splendid interview – is one of them. She was put on the highest government salary – Scale 1 – along with the country’s top career civil servants.

Their term of employment ends officially on 31 December, and it will be interesting to see the answer to another question: how many of those 50 are going to be moved into different “positions of trust” at the public teat.
