The Lands Department, which is directly in the Prime Minister’s portfolio because he is Minister for Lands, is casting about for lawyers specialised in property law to fight its case against…the Prime Minister.

It can’t use the Attorney-General’s office, as it would normally do as a government department, because the Attorney-General is fighting the case for the Prime Minister – except that the Prime Minister is fighting the case as an ordinary member of parliament, but strangely with access to the services of the Attorney-General.

And its own legal consultants and ‘internal lawyers’ are refusing to take on the case.
