Cult members should stop trying to shove Sri Chinmoy down our gullet
Members of the Sri Chinmoy cult said that they flew back to Malta as soon as they landed in New York, to defend their dead cult leader’s reputation against assault from “a blog associated with the Nationalist Party”.
That one phrase gave the game away entirely and confirmed that their links to Malta are rooted in the Labour Party. The fact that I vote for the Nationalist Party, as do 100,000+ other people in this country, does not mean that my blog is in any way linked to the Nationalist Party. It is only the Labour Party which pushes that particular propaganda line, because its wish is to undermine me.
Now the Sri Chinmoy cult is pushing it too.
“We don’t want this to become a political football,” the cult members said, while trying to turn it into a political football themselves. But it’s not a political issue. It is a matter of whether a statue of a dead and contentious cult leader from New York, whose cult members are mainly gullible Americans, should be erected on a seafront promenade in Malta, blocking the passageway, getting in everyone’s face and annoying people.
Of course it shouldn’t. Sri Chinmoy is completely without significance to Malta and the Maltese, and beyond that, he was a disgusting and ludicrous person who manipulated the naivety of individuals like these cult members, who are impressed and taken in by anybody remotely exotic-looking who claims to be spiritual while asking for money.
The cult members said that the accusations of sexual predation are false, because no case was ever filed against Sri Chinmoy. Well, what can I say? No case was ever filed against Jimmy Savile, either, but nobody is dumb enough to claim that he never raped minors and wasn’t a kiddy-fiddler.
