Fernando Tal-Hawsla bought his house under the Gonzi government

Times of Malta reports today that Fernando Agius of the Tal-Hawsla family which includes the notorious land-developer and old Labour thug Piju Camilleri (his mother’s uncle) bought his house in 2008.

Here are some points that arise from this.

1. His mother, Bridget Tal-Hawsla, bought it for him. Eight years ago he was way too young to pay for it himself. He’s in his late 20s now.

2. The Prime Minister must be completely nuts to pretend that a house bought under the Gonzi government was bought under his government. All real estate transactions are by public notarial deed. All you have to do is run a search at the registry.

3. “Oh, so you used my tax benefits, then.” Cue the canned laughter. Muscat got into government in 2013. His tax benefits for first-time buyers were introduced in 2014. Tal-Hawsla bought that house in 2008.

4. If they lied about the identity of the couple, the date of purchase of their home, then there might be another lie…Mrs Hawsla (drum roll here) is probably not pregnant.

5. Why does Joseph Muscat enjoy lying to the public when he doesn’t have to, as in this case? Because he gets a thrill out of it. “Wow, I got away with that. Let me try a bigger and more useless lie next time.”
