I have to conclude that the Prime Minister is now compensating his Justice Minister
The Law Commissioner has continued his crazy tirades on the comments-board of The Malta Independent. I am forced to conclude that the Prime Minister gave his Justice Minister the Identity Malta portfolio a few days ago as compensation (and a ‘please keep quiet’ bribe) because of what Franco Debono, Law Commissioner, is putting him through.
Debono has now proved himself to be a plague on both political parties and on two governments, two prime ministers and two ministers of justice. Both prime ministers found themselves making decisions which adversely affect matters of policy and the public interest because they sought to stop this man harassing them and couldn’t see that his problems come from a psychological disorder which cannot be handled in that manner.
The public cannot be left in a situation where this man, who now does not even have a seat in parliament and cannot be called a representative of the people, continues to hold the government of the day to ransom. The Law Commissioner is now fighting publicly with the Justice Minister and making his dislike of him, and his disagreement with him, public on the internet.
The situation is untenable and disgraceful. In this situation, the Law Commissioner has no choice but to resign – which he clearly will not do, given his pathological condition – which means that the Justice Minister has to remove him. This he will not do, either, because he is afraid of the fall-out, and so is his boss, the Prime Minister.
The public is being screwed over again.
Here is the latest. I cannot be sufficiently emphatic about how abnormal the Law Commissioner’s behaviour is, or how weird the situation is in general, in which the Prime Minister and Justice Minister first appoint and then tolerate this kind of person and his completely inappropriate talk and conduct. It is the subject of discussion and reports among ambassadors to Malta, and it reflects extremely badly on how things are done in Malta, and on the Maltese themselves/ourselves.
