Muscat asked Schembri whether she was “sitting down” before thrilling her like Father Christmas

Deborah Schembri, who has replaced Michael Falzon as Joseph Muscat’s underling in the Ministry for Lands, has given an interview to The Malta Independent. She describes how she found out about her new position.

You will note that the Prime Minister did not offer her the courtesy of asking her whether she wanted the job in the first place, but behaved as though he was a corporate PR man informing a lucky ticket-buyer of her lottery win: “Are you sitting down?”
