Ingrid Zammit Young’s father canvassed votes for Owen Bonnici in the last general election
This is an email I received earlier today from somebody I know.
Ingrid Zammit Young’s father is Godwin Young, a huge Labourite (“Mintoffjan Kburi”) from Bormla, now living in Fgura. He’s 69. He used to be very active in Fgura’s Labour Party Committee and is a delegate in the Labour Party’s General Conference and the General Workers Union. He canvassed votes for Owen Bonnici in the last general election.
Please keep harping on your theme that this is hugely corrupt: they’re treating the Law Courts as a Labour Party Club. Anglu Farrugia’s daughter will be warming the bench for 32 years, with a car and chauffeur and a guaranteed salary even if she chooses to do almost no work. She can never be removed.
Appointments to the bench should be of those in late middle age, highly experienced lawyers who are well-versed in various aspects of law. And they should not be linked to politicians. It is also a huge disservice to women: feminism thrives on competence and independence, not appointments by way of who a woman’s father is or was.
