Nobody in Malta’s Russian community knows Larisa Leontieva
In a situation which is classically stereotypical of abusive and controlling relationships, Larisa Leontieva was completely isolated and had no network of friends or family in Malta. She was never seen out socially except when accompanied by Anthony Busuttil, who kept a close eye on her. The Russian community in Malta has gone into action and is working to find her and contact her to extend offers of help and support, but nobody seems to know her.
One Russian woman who lives in Malta has got in touch through this website to say:
We are looking for her. We do not know how to find her. In her Facebook page there are only couple of Russian people as friends and they are far in Russia. I think that he maybe did not let her to go out a lot and get friends. In Russian group no one knows her :( so sad.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, this comment has just come in:
She has tried to “escape” before I believe – not sure what brought her back, but she was away for some time. I used to see her very often and the man always standing on the balcony looking at her every move, while she was in the park (public garden) with her son.

Larisa Leontieva has lived in Malta for the last 11 years, but seems to have had no friends and nobody in the Russian community in Malta appears to know her. The women have now gone into action and are working to locate her, using their network.
