RSM (Malta) negotiating for government on sale of Air Malta
Today I can reveal that RSM (Malta) is acting for the government in negotiations for the sale of Air Malta. The negotiations are being handled by managing partner Maria Micallef, who coincidentally shares a name with the Air Malta chairman.
Micallef replaced Deo Scerri as RSM (Malta)’s managing partner last October. Deo Scerri has been the Labour Party’s accountant for more years than anyone cares to remember, and within a few weeks of becoming Prime Minister, Joseph Muscat had him appointed to the board of the Bank of Valletta as the government’s representative.
One of Maria Micallef’s and Deo Scerri’s most important clients at RSM (Malta) right now is Hani Hasan Naji Al Saleh, whose company Sadeen Education Investment Ltd (there are other companies too) is registered at their office address, Cobalt House in Mriehel. Maria Micallef and Deo Scerri have handled all of Al Saleh’s negotiations with the government – a very murky situation as you obviously don’t know whose interests they’re working for.
Maria Micallef of RSM (Malta) was with the Tourism Minister and the Transport Minister when they flew to Turkey for meetings this week. Yet the Tourism Minister told The Malta Independent yesterday that the trip had nothing to do with selling Air Malta to Turkish Airlines. Read here for some background information.
