The Prime Minister gives the game away today that he and Konrad Mizzi were lying yesterday

Yesterday, the Prime Minister and Konrad Mizzi made a big show of claiming that the Panama company – to which Mizzi admitted only after I broke the news on this website; he had previously sought to give the impression that the company, like the trust, was incorporated in New Zealand – was a “shelf company” which he bought ready-made at the same time he set up the trust last year.

Mizzi made a point of emphasising that he acquired the company at the same time he set up the trust, last year. He was very keen that we understand this point.

The reason for this is that the basis of their defence now is that Mizzi planned to declare the company and trust all along and that they will be in the declaration to parliament for 2015, which is due to be submitted in a few weeks.

The “shelf” company excuse only surfaced after I uploaded on this website the information that the company was incorporated in 2013, a few months after Konrad Mizzi was appointed to the cabinet. This opened him to twofold accusations: that he set up the company with intent when he became a cabinet minister, and that he failed to declare the company in his parliament declarations for 2013 and 2014.

By now it has dawned on them that I might well know for a fact that Konrad Mizzi himself had the company incorporated for him in Panama in 2013 when he became a minister (yes, he did), and they’re backtracking again. This morning, the Prime Minister was challenged repeatedly by a reporter to say WHEN Konrad Mizzi set up the company in Panama and he refused to answer. He did not say, as he did yesterday, that Mizzi bought a shelf company last year when he set up the trust.

It’s not because he has since discovered that Mizzi incorporated the company himself in 2013. It’s because he has since discovered that I know.
