Two Hats Sammut objects to being described as a Labour MP (though he is one)
Labour MP Joe Sammut, who was a witness for Marco Gaffarena today in the case brought against him by Joseph Muscat (the MP, not the Prime Minister) objected to the Times of Malta’s description of him as a Labour MP.
He wrote to the Lands Department on behalf of Marco Gaffarena as his lawyer, he said, and not as a Labour MP. And the “amateur media” should learn to distinguish between the two.
I think amateur politicians need to understand that they are a member of parliament at all times, 24/7, 365 days a year, wherever they are and whoever they are with and in whatever context, even when they are in the bath.
The Times of Malta was entirely correct in describing him to its readers as a Labour MP, because that is exactly what he is. It is exactly that information which conveys the absurdity of the situation, and it would have been a dereliction of journalistic duty not to report it.
Joe Sammut – another quality Labour MP. Joe Cassar has to resign from the Opposition benches because of stuff he received from Joe Gaffarena, and we have no idea what Joe Sammut has received from Marco Gaffarena or why he likes him so much.
