Yes, they are trying to hawk Air Malta in Turkey behind our backs – so much for Etihad

Yesterday I put up a post reporting that a member of my international worldwide network of spies had seen the Tourism Minister and the Transport Minister on the flight to Istanbul the day before.

I inferred from this that discussions with Etihad have collapsed, and that they are back to begging Turkish Airlines to buy Air Malta. A couple of you wrote in to say that this is not necessarily the case and that they might have been en route to Dubai via Istanbul.

But this morning I can report that they stayed in Turkey. Another member of my international worldwide network of spies tells me that they are flying back from Ankara via Munich today, and will be on the Air Malta flight from Munich which lands at 1455hrs. Edward Zammit Lewis and Joe Mizzi are accompanied by Maria Micallef, chairman of Air Malta, and by Gail Demanuele who works for Edward Zammit Lewis at the Tourism Ministry.
