Mr and Mrs Manuel Mallia go to Parents Day – and park as they please

Mr and Mrs Manuel Mallia were at Parents Day at St Joseph Convent a couple of hours ago. You remember how they entered her into a church schools lottery to get a free place at a church school so they wouldn’t have to pay the fees they can afford elsewhere, thereby leaving one place fewer for those who really need it.

But I digress. There is absolutely no parking at all in that part of Sliema (tell me about it), so instead of parking in the High Street car-park or even the parking area on the site of the old Regina Hotel – because that would have cost money – Emmanuel ‘Alamo’ Mallia parked in his car bang on what everyone knows is a strict no-parking part of the street, right on the school’s doorstep.

A warden probably shot along armed and ready to give him a ticket, but Mallia was seen speaking to him and the warden left – no ticket, and the car still there.
