So that was their ‘skandlu kbir’

After spending the entire afternoon and evening plastering the internet with announcements that they’re going to announce a ‘skandlu kbir’ about the deputy leaders of the Nationalist Party (tit for tat for deputy leader KonRat), the agents of the government have given birth to not even a mouse but nothing at all.

I glued myself to Super One Television for the first time since the general elections, and the Justice Minister’s mistress came on screen with the standard dramatics: “Beppe Fenech Adami sar miljunarju kbir. Ghandu miljun euro fil-banek u bonds.”

I goggled at the screen. What, really? That’s your story? The only reason the government and the Labour Party know that Beppe Fenech Adami has around a million euros in bank deposits and other investments is exactly the same way I and the rest of the country do: he gave a detailed description in his declaration of assets to parliament.

Some people think the Labour Party are ace in marketing. I never thought so. To be ace at that kind of thing, you have to be several steps ahead, and they never are. The last general election is nothing to go by – that was like shooting fish in a barrel. The true test is now, and they’re failing miserably.

This is their crazed tactic: to announce as a big scandal the assets Fenech Adami himself declared to parliament almost a year ago. And here’s their stupidity: the second thing people will say, after saying ‘Hey, we knew that already’ is: HE’S GOT FAR MORE MONEY AND PROPERTY THAN KONRAD MIZZI AND HE HASN’T FELT A PRESSING NEED TO SET UP A SECRET COMPANY IN PANAMA.

Boot them out in 2018 – we can’t go on like this. And the Justice Minister’s mistress should not be on the Labour Party’s television station broadcasting assaults on the members of the Opposition. It’s totally unsavoury. Bunch of disgusting, lousy hamalli who never knew any better.
