Tangled lies: the DOI says the nameless person didn’t apply, while the Labour Party said he did

When I reported on Lalit Modi, who is wanted in India for money-laundering and who has bought (or been given?) a Maltese passport, the government’s Department of Information released the weirdest statement ever, saying that this person (without a name) never applied under the passport purchase scheme and does not hold Maltese citizenship – a statement which leaves so many lacunae that it is a joke.
But now the Labour Party’s official news portal claims that Modi did apply under the scheme, but was refused.
The web of lies tangles further.
