And Toni Abela really helped his case by getting Cyrus Engerer to lobby for him
I have it on absolutely the best authority that it was Cyrus Engerer, a man still under a two-and-a-half-year suspended prison sentence, who coached Toni Abela to face the hearing yesterday, and who lobbied for him.
That must have created an excellent impression and really helped the Maltese government’s case: a Brussels special envoy of the Maltese Prime Minister, serving a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, lobbying for the Maltese Prime Minister’s nominee, who was investigated (supposedly) by the police for covering up cocaine-dealing (real) at a Labour Party club.
These people live in a parallel universe. And the scariest thing is that even when they are no longer in power we will never be safely in normal mode again, because now we will always know that lurking beneath the surface of normality these Parallel Universe People, like Christ’s poor, will be with us always.
If 25 years of normality and 12 years of EU membership didn’t solve the problem, nothing ever will.
