We shouldn’t criticise corruption and acts against free speech, because they’ll tell us we’re “attacking Malta”
The Party of European Socialists (PES) in the European Parliament has issued a statement. But it’s not a statement about how the only EU government minister, prime minister, and prime minister’s chief of staff – apart from David Cameron, who got the rap because of his father – mentioned in the Panama Papers belong to Malta’s Labour Party, which belongs to the Party of European Socialists. It’s a statement about how the PES will support “Malta” in the attacks made against it by the Nationalist Party.
So we have silence about Konrad Mizzi, Keith Schembri and Joseph Muscat, the Labour Party is portrayed as being synonymous with Malta, and it’s the Nationalist Party which is “attacking” Malta by highlighting, and protesting against, the government’s actions.
