This is the best that Super One TV could do last night

On a night when there was a crucial vote in parliament – a vote that will prove to be historic, for all the wrong reasons – the best line-up that the Labour Party’s television station could muster for its discussion show, Arena, was a very poor rag-tag assembly of same-old, same-old executive chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology, his mate Andy Ellul (cop turned criminal defence lawyer; both he and his girlfriend have been put on the payroll in Minister Michael Farrugia’s secretariat in ‘positions of trust’), that other ghastly lawyer Chris Cilia, whose mother is Reno Bugeja’s sister, Tander Saliba of the Labour Youth Forum, and William Wait, non-executive chairman of the Water Services Corporation and executive chairman of Konrad Mizzi’s Projects Malta Ltd, which is Muscat’s deal-brokerage agency.

Arena is hosted by Ramona Attard, a person of trust on the (apparently very large) communications desk at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Yes, that’s the best they could muster to talk about Konrad Mizzi and the ongoing scandal, which they barely mentioned anyway, except for that Ellul’s ‘case closed’ statement that we should all stop talking about Panama now and move on, because parliament had voted to keep Konrad Mizzi in the cabinet.

You will see that they are not even bothering with token Nationalist politicians or token independent commentators anymore. And they’re so daft they fail to realise that Jeffrey Pullicino is now seriously toxic in terms of PR.
