Luciano Busuttil uses state-paid chauffeur and car to collect daughter from school every day

Labour MP Luciano Busuttil, who the Prime Minister kept happy by giving him a salary, car and chauffeur for the largely nominal role of Malta Sports Council chairman, once again today had his chauffeur drive him to St Dorothy’s School in Sliema where he collected his daughter. We can assume, rationally, that the state-paid chauffeur then drove the two of them home to Marsascala in the state-funded car with state-paid petrol.

The reader who sent these photographs, which were taken this afternoon, says that this happens every day without fail. Busuttil arrives with his state-paid chauffeur at 1.15pm, waits for his daughter to emerge, then they leave at 1.40pm.

Some months ago Mrs Busuttil was put on the state pay-roll at the Malta Gaming Authority, but she does not have a state-funded car and chauffeur (that we know of) and presumably is not allowed to leave the office during working hours. The school transport used by all working parents is obviously not an option for those who clearly got into government for no reason other than to be able to freeload.
