Muscat feigns ignorance of Opposition request for proof of payment for his Dubai Easter holiday
UPDATE: Here’s the latest development in this story.
The Prime Minister feigned ignorance (complete with furrow) of the Opposition’s request for proof of payment for his family holiday at the Hotel Atlantis the Palm in Dubai over Easter, when asked by The Malta Independent what he plans to do about it.
With a small army of former Labour Party media employees paid as persons of trust to serve as communications staff and advisers at the Office of the Prime Minister, there is no way on earth he could not have known about it. It is their job to keep track of these things and to discuss them with him on a daily basis. So he is either lying – for a change – or he should sack the lot of them.
He brushed it off by saying he always pays for his own holidays. So the next question should be: how can he afford that kind of holiday when they are a single-income family – Mrs Muscat sets an example for progressive liberalism by refusing to work – with two children at an expensive private school. Perhaps the Prime Minister used the €7,500 he received this year alone for renting his aged family saloon car to the government for his own use – which income he did not list in his declaration of assets and income to parliament, because strictly speaking, it’s “an allowance” for using his own car.
As a side-note, the Prime Minister now needs to ring Bortex and get them to make him some smaller and tighter suits.
