Now that Konrad Mizzi can no longer be seen with Miss Gambin, he’s going out with his father
With his wife tucked away in Shanghai, and the spotlight on his canoodling with Miss Lindsay Gambin, the Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister has been left with a companion for forays into the public arena.
His father has stepped in, making the Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister the only middle-aged man to go out accompanied by daddy when not strictly necessary. Doesn’t he have any friends? Goodness, it’s just occurred to me that somebody like that probably doesn’t, and never did, not even at school.
So the Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, then still the Minister for Health and Energy, went to watch Hibernians play at the national stadium, with his father. And I’ve just realised that in this famous Reuters photograph he’s with his daddy, too – the old man in the black and white striped T-shirt. This is Lawrence Mizzi, the old-time Mintoffian Air Malta man who was in at the beginning in the 1970s alongside Louis Grech, and who named his son after the national carrier code, which is why he’s Konrad Mizzi and not Conrad Mizzi.
