Now the Labour whip is speaking
Godfrey Farrugia is speaking now, and he’s showing far more heartfelt emotion than the Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister has done. At one point, his voice broke and I had a horrible fear he would cry in public. But he recovered himself. Unfortunately, he projected his own emotion onto the Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, and said that Mizzi went through hell and suffered martyrdom over the last few weeks.
Of course he didn’t. Konrad Mizzi has shown not one jot of emotion since the story broke in February. On the contrary, he has manifested extreme arrogance and the belief that he was right and the rest of us are making a fuss.
The Labour whip, however, is the first Labour MP to speak properly about the Panama Papers and the damage which Konrad Mizzi’s involvement has done to him, to the government, to Malta, and to the many people who suspect him, justifiably, of wrong-doing.
