Read the new stories about Schembri and Mizzi coming out of the Panama Papers
The Malta Independent and the Times of Malta/The Sunday Times have been given full access to documents as media partners of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists on the Panama Papers. There are compelling stories in both newspapers today.
This one in The Malta Independent on Sunday is about how Keith Schembri illicitly transferred more than €750,000 to his secret company in the British Virgin Islands in 2014 alone.
This was the year, I reported in a post a couple of days ago, that his legitimate business in Malta declared a loss of more than €450,000, with cost of sales and administrative expenses rising above €10 million and outstripping revenue from sales.
These crimes are only possible because the man who audits Kasco Holdings Ltd’s accounts is the very same way who handled the restructuring of Keith Schembri’s illicit offshore companies.
And this story in The Sunday Times is about the way Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi went to great lengths to avoid alerting the banks in Malta to the existence of their offshore trusts. A government minister and the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, making it clear that they wanted to con the Maltese authorities and the Maltese banks. How corrupt is that. What a bunch of crooked crooks.
If the idiots I know who rooted for them and put them into power are not walking barefoot with chained ankles behind the next Good Friday procession, nothing will redeem them.
