More attempts to silence people: Labour councillor moves for removal of Godfrey Leone Ganado

Swieqi’s Labour councillor Mario Fava has moved for the removal of retired accountant Godfrey Leone Ganado from Madliena’s administrative committee and from the Swieqi local council’s contracts adjudication committee.

The reason he gives is that Leone Ganado has written disparagingly about a mayor and said that the Labour Party encourages the rise of hamallagni. Leone Ganado had commented on this website about the mayor of Zurrieq’s participation in the Labour TV show Liquorish, filmed in The Philippines, where the mayor – Ignatius Farrugia – was shown running around semi-naked, making embarrassing remarks, talking about his diarrhoea and, at one point, even defaecating in his trousers.

Godfrey Leone Ganado often posts comments on the internet that are critical of the government and its decisions, and does so in his own name.

It is typical of the Labour Party that, instead of disciplining its Zurrieq council representative for making a fool of himself in his public role and a big show of dirtying his pants on television and discussing it, they instead move for the removal of those who – entirely justifiably – criticise this behavior and point out how wrong it is.
