And of course, it’s Chris Cardona

The best-known denizen of The Stable bar, the Economy Minister Chris Cardona, is the Labour Party’s new deputy leader for party affairs, replacing the equally dishonourable Konrad Mizzi. He got 53.4% of the vote. Janice and Noddy are going to be terribly disappointed.

“We must strive to build bridges,” he said. What, with an axe? “But we must start with the party delegates.” He said that the Panama Papers revelations had changed the Labour Party – just the party? – but “it was a phase, and just as the seasons change, we are now at a point where we can focus on delivering results.”

That’s a great way to move forward: by putting the problems behind you without actually addressing them. No wonder people are so fed up.
