Andrea Leadsom leaves too

The Leave camp has taken on new meaning as one British political leader or hopeful after another does a runner and quits in fright.

Today it’s Andrea Leadsom, who is pulling out of the Conservative Party leadership race because, sources told the BBC, “the abuse has been too great”. Yes, indeed – the woman who put herself forward as the UK’s next prime minister and a fit, proper and able person to lead the country out of the EU and through the abyss couldn’t take a few insults and broke down under the onslaught.

As well she might – a few days ago she proved just how unfit she is for the role of prime minister, or any other senior position, by using her children as a trump card over Theresa May, who doesn’t have any. Can you imagine a man thinking that way, or saying something like that? Well, exactly.

A stream of criticism followed, and Leadsom crumbled in the kitchen, only to crawl out today.
