Suddenly, it’s very fashionable to have a European outlook

The inevitable result of the Brexit referendum and its voting patterns have made it utterly toxic to be seen as anti-EU membership.

Small-minded, xenophobic, bigoted, racist, unimaginative, uncooperative, unintelligent, selfish and spiteful, old, dull-witted – those are now the brand values of the Leave camp, and whether accurate or not (and they are largely accurate), perception matters.

And the foreseeable result of that inevitable result is that being European in mindset and pro-European in attitude and outlook has suddenly become everything that it wasn’t before – the equal and opposite reaction to the toxicity of being anti-EU and sharing values with people like Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen and Violet from Clacton-On-Sea.

There’s even a new pop-up publication which will be published every Friday for just four weeks. You can order The New European here. It’s the price of a G & T and far more useful in helping you stay sane as summer socialising increases your exposure to depressingly uninformed and emotionally/intellectually hamstrung people with a drink in their hand and their conversational topics on a 20-year loop.

The New European’s Twitter account has been besieged by Brexiteers insulting them by saying that the publication won’t last longer than six months to a year – proving the point that has been made repeatedly about your typical Leave voter’s absolute indifference to facts and information. They haven’t even registered the fact that this is going to be a four-issues-only publication.
