The Speaker of the House, Anglu Farrugia, put in an unexpected and – as far as I can recall – unprecedented appearance at the tiny feast of the hamlet where I live, Bidnija, yesterday evening.
He wore white jeans and a white T-shirt, with brown leather shoes, and was accompanied by his only daughter, Caroline Farrugia Frendo, who was recently given a corrupt appointment to the bench and is now a magistrate.
The new magistrate sat alone and looked on while her father the Speaker strutted up and down among the small gathering, in his neck-to-ankle white, greeting people he doesn’t know.
Those people were bewildered because the Speaker is no longer in the market for votes.
