Justice Minister Owen Bonnici, who took over responsibility for Identity Malta last January, in March gave a direct order of €119,600 to Elaine Malia (not Mallia), who until June last year was group head of risk and compliance at Henley & Partners, which is contracted by the government and Identity Malta to handle the sale of Maltese citizenship.
Henley & Partners told this website that Ms Malia’s employment with the company ended on 30 June 2015.
The direct order, published in the current issue of the Malta Government Gazette, is to Ms Malia personally. The stated description is ‘consultancy’.
